Crafting Short Fiction

Always wanted to write short stories? In this two-part, beginner-friendly workshop, learn tools to help you:
- plot and structure your short story
- build tension and engage your reader
- strengthen your prose
Please note: These workshops are designed to offer a creative learning opportunity to adults who identify as low income. If you have an interest in creative writing but you experience financial barriers to accessing workshops and courses, this is the workshop for you. Art is for everyone. Creativity is free.
About the facilitator Lucy Nelson is an award-winning writer of short fiction. She was recently awarded a Varuna Fellowship and placed first in national literature prize: The Newcastle Short Story Award. Her short fiction has been published overseas and short listed for international and Australian prizes. She lives on Dharawal Country, where she is currently completing a collection of short stories with support from Create NSW. This event is supported by City of Wollongong and the South Coast Writers Centre.
