Crafting your Story! A Junior Workshop:

As part of the Campbelltown Writer's Competition 2026, young wordsmiths aged 7–14 are invited to "Crafting your Story," a fun and highly interactive creative writing workshop run by Bethany Clark.

This exciting session encourages children to unleash their imagination and build practical story-writing skills by creating short stories centered around the inspiring theme of "Connections." While the activities are specifically designed for the 7–14 age bracket, parents of younger participants are warmly invited to stay and share in the creative experience.

This is a free workshop, but bookings are required. This workshop is suitable for Children ages 7-14 years. Please note children under 12 years must have an adult present in the Library at all times.

About the host:

Bethany Clark is a writer, editor, and strategic communications consultant who after many years working behind the scenes in the publishing industry. Her debut children’s picture book You’ve Got Yoghurt In Your Nostrils is a joyous celebration of the glorious mess babies create when they learn to eat and is published by Affirm Press. Her second picture book, Little Love List was published in February 2025. She lives in Adelaide with her husband and son where she can still be found making books in between catering continuous picnics.

About the Campbelltown Writer's Competition

The annual Campbelltown Writer’s Competition is on again and writers from across South Australia are invited to submit their original stories inspired by the theme of Connections. Entries can be fiction or non-fiction but must not exceed 2,500 words and must have a link to the Campbelltown area, a Campbelltown resident or references to the City of Campbelltown. All genres and styles welcome.

Entries open Saturday 1 August at 9am and close 11pm Sunday 20 September, 2026

This competition is facilitated by Campbelltown City Council and judged by Writer's SA.

In 2026, our theme will be Connections - the threads that link us to each other, to ideas, and to the places that shape our lives. As Campbelltown Library marks 50 years of learning, creativity, and community spirit, this theme highlights how libraries connect people across generations, interests, and experiences. From local gatherings to digital networks, Connections honours the many ways we come together and continue to grow as a community.
