Ever wondered what it actually takes to produce an exceptional cup of coffee?
This October, we're inviting coffee lovers, baristas, travellers and curious first-timers from across Australia to step beyond the café and experience coffee where it begins — on the farm.
Welcome to Crater Mountain HARVESTIVAL 2026.
For one special weekend, Crater Mountain Coffee is opening its harvest to the public and inviting you to get your hands dirty, meet the people behind the coffee and help us selectively hand-pick some of the farm's best ripe coffee cherries.
FROM TREE → CHERRY → PROCESS → CUP
After harvesting, we'll take you behind the scenes to discover what happens next.
You'll have the opportunity to experience:
☕ Hand-picking coffee cherries
Learn how to identify and selectively pick ripe cherries alongside the farm team.
🌱 Explore a working Australian coffee farm
Walk through the coffee trees and discover how altitude, climate, varieties and farming shape what's eventually in your cup.
⚖️ Weigh your harvest
See how much you've picked and learn how cherry quality and ripeness are assessed.
🧪 Discover coffee processing
Follow the cherries from harvest through sorting, flotation, fermentation and drying, and understand how processing can influence flavour.
👃 Taste Crater Mountain Coffee
Join coffee tasting, cupping and brewing experiences showcasing the farm's coffee.
🤝 Meet the people behind Australian coffee
Spend the day with farmers, world-class and Australian Champion roasters, brewers, baristas, coffee professionals and coffee lovers from around Australia.
YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A COFFEE PROFESSIONAL
This isn't just an industry event.
HARVESTIVAL is open to the public.
You might be a barista who wants to understand coffee beyond the espresso machine.
You might be a home brewer who wants to finally see where your beans come from.
You might simply love food, farming, travel and discovering how things are made.
Or maybe you've never picked a coffee cherry in your life.
That's completely fine. We'll show you how.
Come curious. Leave with a completely different understanding of your morning coffee.
WHY CRATER MOUNTAIN?
Hidden in the high, Atherton Tablelands of Far North Queensland, Crater Mountain is one of Australia's most distinctive coffee origins.
HARVESTIVAL gives you something that can't be experienced by simply ordering another specialty coffee:
the opportunity to stand among the coffee trees and contribute to the harvest yourself.
When you drink coffee again, you'll know what it feels like to pick the cherries, sort them, and watch the first steps of processing.
You'll know some of the people behind it.
And you'll have helped create the 2026 harvest.

Q&A:
Crater Mountain Harvesting Event — Q&A
Can I just come for one day?
Yes. You're welcome to join for a single day if that suits you better. The harvest runs across both days, so you'll get the full hands-on experience even if you only make one.
What does the ticket cover?
Your ticket keeps the day running smoothly and includes:
Lunch — organised for you, so everyone's fed on the day
A group briefing — so we're all on the same page with the plan and the process before we start
A shared start time — we begin together as one group, rather than trickling in
Please note: transportation to and from Crater Mountain is not included — you'll need to arrange your own way there.
Can I bring my own lunch?
Lunch is already included in your ticket, so there's no need to. But if you have specific dietary needs or preferences, you're welcome to bring your own — just let us know in advance so we can plan numbers.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive by 8am so we can settle in, run the briefing, and start together as one group.
Do I need to stay for both days?
No. Come for one day or both — whatever works for you. Each day stands on its own, so you'll get value either way.
