As part of our Seasonal social events, we are pleased to offer group moonlight paddling opportunities at Speedwell Forge lake, West Brubaker Valley Rd.

Attendance is by donation: $15/person if you bring your own boat (byob), and safety gear; $50/person if you need to reserve the use of a kayak and safety gear. Persons under 12 may not reserve the use of CRC boating gear, nor “ride with” another person using CRC boating gear. Contact us by phone if you have any questions at 717-719-8214

A few key things that you need to know….

1- You MUST have and wear a PFD with a whistle and a flashlight. If you are reserving CRC boats, we will provide the PFD and whistle, but you must bring a headlamp or flashlight. These are required by law, and you will not be allowed to launch without them.

2- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for potentially getting wet. Even though this is a lake and calm, the possibility of ending up in the water unexpectedly is a real concern. As they say, kayaking is what you do between swims. A change of clothing is recommended as well, to be kept in your car.

3- The north west end of the lake where it becomes Hammer Creek is off limits. The lake bed is shallow, muddy and unsafe, and the property along Hammer Creek is private, and the stream is not legally navigable. As good neighbors, we respect the concerns of those land owners.

4- You may come and go as you like, so long as you sign in and out with our shore based safety contact. CRC staff will remain on site until all participants have signed out.

5- You MUST receive our standard safety briefing before launching. No exceptions. (Yes, that actually has to be said, unfortunately)
