Event description

COLLAGING & ZINE MAKING WORKSHOP

2 hour session where I will be guiding you on how to create a zine. A mini little book you can create about anything and everything.

Zine’s are small booklets or magazines that are usually done by hand or digitally and distributed independently. They are very easy to make and a great way to make your work accessible and build a sense of community without spending a lot of money.

The beauty about zines is you don’t need to have artistic expertise or be super knowledgeable. This practice meets you where you are at in the present moment. It’s a silly and playful way to invite creativity in your life.  With zines you can make it about any topic you want from why you love cats, 5 reasons capitalism is bad, why you love your sister or dislike her etc. You name it!! It’s endless. It also removes pressure for it to be pretty and curated. You can just get messy, playful and get silly with it.

I will be running a workshop on how to make your own zine. All the materials will be available for you including snacks and drinks.
This is where you can let go and create for the sake of creating.

No artistic experience is needed. I will be there to support and guide you when needed.

WHAT IS CREATE & CONNECT:

I've created a space where you can create for the sake of creating and allowing you to tap into your creative side & play! No agenda for it to be some masterpiece or up-skill, just a space to gather, experiment, express and play.

We live in a world that doesn’t give us permission/opportunities to experiment and stay playful with our creative side (especially as adults) unless we crave the time and space to do so, which can be challenging for most people due to capitalism. This is where the creation of Create & Connect was inspired by where we can gather, experiment, express and play with our creative side without the hassle of it being some capitalist gain! It's something we can just enjoy and do to fill up our cups.

WHO IS IT FOR:

This workshop is great for:

  • For those who want to make art without the pressure for it to be serious or pretty

  • Anyone craving a session of arts and crafts

  • Folks who haven’t connected with their creative side because of other life responsibilities

  • Those who use creativity to connect with their inner child

  • Anyone who is curious about zines and what to make some

The cost of the workshop will cover the materials, snacks and drinks for the day.
