    Explore your creative side learning about clay and its unique properties with ceramic artist and art educator Claudia Citton

    Day 1 Sunday 21 April - Handmade ceramics
    Day 2 Sunday 5 May - Glazing

    Explore your creative side learning about clay and its unique properties. This introductory course is designed to teach beginners the fundamental skills and techniques required for creating ceramics. Students will be guided through step-by-step instructions to create a variety of hand-built functional and decorative pottery pieces. Students will be introduced to working with slabs and molds and will explore decorative techniques such as carving and sgraffito. The workshop also welcomes intermediate students to further develop their current knowledge and skills of ceramics.

    This introductory course is designed to teach beginners the fundamental methods of glazing ceramics while learning about the elements and principles of art and design. Various glazing techniques will be demonstrated.

    Tickets (prices are for both days): Early bird members $230, members $260, non-members $285

    Material fees: $15 for 5kgs of clay, firing at an extra cost calculated by weight

    Class structure: Classes run from 10.30am – 4pm on Sunday 21 April and Sunday 5 May. Please arrive 5 minutes before class to allow for a prompt start. There will be a 30 minute lunch break halfway through each class.

    Class size: 10 students

    Level: designed for beginner to intermediate levels

    Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes

    Please bring: Please bring an apron (preferably plastic), pottery tools, a towel, a fork, a skewer, a rubber kidney/rib, newspaper, one large calico mat, one large rolling pin, tracing paper or carbon paper, an art diary, pencil, ruler and various designs to paint and carve into clay and a P2 mask.
