    Event description

You have an exciting opportunity to be part of a community art project!

We welcome creatives of all ages and it's even suitable for those who don't consider themselves to have artistic talents! This event is a great opportunity to learn something new, connect with others and together make a community artwork which will be displayed in Te Whare Whakatere (Council & Library building).

Participants will take inspiration from an artwork in the Gallery's collection by Richard Killeen and use the medium of water colour painting. Richard Killeen brings many different components into one image so that's what we'll do too. The style will allow everyone to take part - as each component that makes up the whole can be complex, simple, abstract or detailed.

Ashburton Art Gallery & Museum educator Katie Graham will teach us how to use water colour paints, introduce us to the features of Killeen's style and provide guidance as together we create our work of art!

This event is held during Mental Health Awareness Week where the theme this year is: Community is... what we create together. In this event we'll reflect on the theme of community and create something cool together!

Open to people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds!

This event is offered at no cost, but you need to book your spot as places are limited.

Get your free tickets today if this sounds like you.

This is one of five events Keep Learning Mid Canterbury is running focusing on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, during Mental Health Awareness Week. This one is organised in partnership with the Ashburton Art Gallery & Museum.
