Create Your Own Candle Fragrance Workshop and Launch

Welcome to Litberation’s Inauguration and very first candle workshop! When you close your eyes and inhale, what does Freedom smell like to you? What do you see? During this very unique event, you’ll explore this question by creating your own fragrance that takes you to the place that makes you feel the most liberated. 

You will blend 3-5 fragrance oils to create your signature scent, based on the image that freedom conjures up for you. Then, you will create a candle from scratch, which you will pour into a decorative vessel that will complement your home decor. At the end of the event, you’ll get to take home one of your definitions of freedom that you can meditate on whenever you light it.

You get the option of purchasing a Regular ticket or a VIP ticket (limited availability). VIP tickets provide you with: 

• A rustic, reusable 10 oz. wooden dough-bowl

About Us

Litberation is a social enterprise that is dedicated to stimulating Liberation literacy, facilitating Community Healing through Art, and promoting Black Diaspora Culture and Literature. Our unique events center explorations of Freedom by participating in creative activities that help you dive into your definitions of being free, internally and externally. Our Art boutique offers items that aid you in that pursuit. We believe in the power of small interactions to create Change, and we want to provide the space for those moments of Connection and Growth.

This event will be held at Dorothy’s Cafe, Austin’s newest hidden gem and Latin-owned LGBTQ+ Cafe owned by Alex Lopez; a passionate nonbinary pastry chef who is committed to creating an inclusive haven through culinary artistry and community building. Dorothy’s is especially known for their delicious conchas! But Dorothy's ATX Café is more than just a cafe, it is a LatinX Queer-Owned Safe Space that proudly celebrates its Mexican roots and LGBTQIA2S+ pride. When creating the name, Alex was inspired by the phrase , “Friend of Dorothy”, which dates back to WWII and served as a secret code to protect gay men from hostility as they tried to build community.

Refund Policy 

You must request a refund no later than 72 hours before the event. If you cancel within those 72 hours, you will not get a refund, but you will get partial credit for your next event or purchase from the boutique.
