Creating a sustainable future for Sydney’s community gardens

Join us for a discussion about the future of community gardens in Sydney, why these projects are a vital part of any city’s sustainability strategy, and how to get involved.
The panel will feature Maia Rohne Brodal (president of Coogee Community Garden), Mitch Burnie (Sustainability Projects Officer, Randwick City Council) and Sam Betteridge (Education & Community Manager, Pocket City Farms).
- Learn more about community gardens across the Randwick City Council area and beyond
- Hear from horticulture educators and garden members on how community gardens are established and managed
- Understand approaches to city land use and the commons
- Explore the challenges faced by gardens and the novel sustainability solutions they can provide
The panel will be followed by a tour of Coogee Community garden and a plastic-free picnic, please bring a plate to share if you would like to stay and join us.
