MEET THE PANELISTS

Associate Professor Ahmed Imran
Ahmed is an Information Systems academic and founder & leader of the interdisciplinary Research Cluster of Digital inequality and social change (RC-Disc) at the University of Canberra (UC).
Ahmed is a fellow of the Australian Computer Society and a member of several professional bodies with decade-long industry/professional experience in IT project management, which was enhanced by training/certification on Change Management, Prince-2 Agile, Lean Six Sigma, and ITIL. Ahmed's research and thought leadership has proven to bring real-world applications to the table, something that cemented its importance in the eyes of the research community. This recognition was further reflected through several awards/recognitions, including ANU Vice Chancellor's Award for Community Outreach, followed by numerous speaking invitations to international/national forums.

Associate Professor Jenny Davis
Jenny is a senior lecturer in the School of Sociology at ANU and the Deputy Director of ANU's Humanising Machine Intelligence Program. Jenny's research intersects social psychology and technology studies, with a particular focus on identifying and reducing inequality as it materializes in technological systems. She is the Past Chair of the Communication, Information Technologies, & Media Sociology section of the American Sociological Association. She holds an ARC DECRA Fellowship leading a project on ethics in Australia's technology start-up sector and is the founder and Lead of ANU's Role-Taking Lab, established through a Futures Scheme grant. Her work is published in flagship journals from sociology, social psychology, and new media studies and her book, How Artifacts Afford: The Power and Politics of Everyday Things (2020), is out with MIT Press.
