Thinking about taking a social work student on placement? Already supervising students and looking for new ideas?

Join us for a practical and interactive workshop exploring how to create a social work placement that benefits your agency, field educators, students, service users and the future social work workforce.

We’ll explore:

  • Why become a social work field educator?

  • What makes a great placement?

  • What does your agency have to offer a student?

  • What can social work students actually do on placement?

  • What might incremental learning look like in your agency?

  • How can you create a supportive and transformative learning environment?

  • How do you use the placement learning plan effectively?

  • What makes good student supervision?

  • How can the Three-Pillar Engagement Framework – “What’s happening here?” support the supervisory relationship?

  • What does the University expect from a placement—and what support can you expect from us?

  • What do you do when things aren’t going to plan?

Anyone interested in hosting or supervising a social work student—whether you are considering becoming a field educator, preparing to take your first student, or already experienced in field education.
