    Event description

Creating Habitat for Pollinators - free workshop

Help us celebrate World Bee Day. Join our engaging presenter Helen from Friends With Honey, and learn about the importance of pollinators and how you can help them survive.

No matter how big or small, your backyard is an important link in supporting locally native pollinators. In this in-person workshop Helen will talk about how to create habitat in your garden for species such as native bees, European honey bees, butterflies, moths, wasps, flies, and even small mammals such as bats and birds who have an essential role in pollination. Helen will also talk about identifying pollinators, the best plants to use, pesticide use, and how to create supplementary habitat such as bee hotels.

Attendees will have the opportunity to make their own native bee hotel - just bring an empty and clean 400g tin can from home (one per attendee). Attendees will also go in the draw to win a copy of The Contented Bee book.
