Event description

Find out how to layout merino wool fibres, apply decorative elements, and use wet felting techniques to turn them into a piece of beautiful and unique fabric.  In this one-day workshops. you will learn about the history of feltmaking and the qualities of wool - the most natural of fibres - how and why it felts, and the differences between fibres from different sheep breeds.

You will make a series of samples and learn about the stages in the process of felting and fulling, the differences between a prefelt and felt, and ways of decorating and embellishing with wool, yarn and other fibres. Once you have mastered these basic methods, you will be able to apply your new skills to make scarves, garments, hats, bags or wall-hangings.

All materials are supplied. Complimentary refreshments and lunch will be provided.
