Creative Anarchy School Holiday Program
Event description
How do you get kids to put down their devices and turn off the screens this school holidays? The Creative Anarchy School Holiday Program is here this July, with a range of workshops for kids and teenagers aged from 4 to 18 years that will get them playing and creating in a way they’ve never done before. Let them play! No parents ALLOWED!!
Construct & Destruct: Sunday, 10th July
It’s fun to build a cardboard box fort, but it’s also fun to jump on it afterward and squash it flat! Construction and destruction are both normal ways of playing, and the desire to destroy something you’ve created isn’t a bad thing! As well as using creative design thinking skills to build, getting destructive provides a great deal of learning that will be explored during the de-construction phase of our workshop.Â
Come play and experiment with a range of materials to make whatever your imagination desires. At the end, you’ll get to destroy your creation in a fun way of your choice!
Session 1Â (School Yrs 1-3): 9am - 9:45amÂ
Session 2 (School Yrs 4-6):Â 10am -Â 11amÂ
Improv Theatre: Monday, 11th July
Improvised Theatre isn’t just for those that love performing - it’s for anyone who likes to have fun! Improv is a collaborative method of creating live, spontaneous theatre from suggestions and ideas, which means you’ll never know what will happen next! The games are fun, playful, inclusive, and there’s absolutely no experience needed! It’s all about self-expression while improving confidence, connection and creative thinking in a safe space while having fun.
Session 1 (School Yrs 6 - 8):Â 1pm - 2pm
Session 2 (School Yrs 9-12): 2.30pm - 3.30pm Â
Free Play Tuesday : Tuesday, 12th July
The beauty in children is how they see the world; that they see possibilities in everything. There is a joy in how they can take a seemingly random collection of objects and create something incredible, all with just the power of their imagination.
We know the power that loose parts play can have in unleashing creativity and encouraging problem-solving, especially when there is little to no adult guidance or boundaries. This free play workshop explores a wide variety of materials, where you get to create something special from your own imagination to take home.
Session 1 (Ages 4-6):Â 9 - 9:45 am * Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for this sessionÂ
Session 2 (School Yrs 1-3): 10am - 11 amÂ
Session 3 (School Yrs 4-6):Â 11:15am - 12:15amÂ
Build an Escape Room: Wednesday 13th & Thursday 14th July
Is there anything more satisfying than solving all the puzzles and clues and completing an escape room? What about creating your own mind-boggling puzzles for your very own escape room?Â
The Make & Escape workshop is your chance to let your imagination run wild as you work through the design and development of an escape room prototype. In this fast-paced & fun workshop, you’ll write a short premise for the room, develop tactile challenges, and design and build the room layout.
Session 1 (School Yrs 5-6): Wednesday, 13th July,  9am - 11.30am
Session 2 (School Yrs 7-12): Thursday, 14th July, 1pm - 3.30pmÂ
