ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Mindful Markmaking

Slow down and get creative in this gentle, low-pressure weekly workshop. Designed with neurodivergent-friendly approaches, participants explore simple paper-art techniques including pin-pricking, tearing and image-making, discovering the creative possibilities of repetition, rhythm and mark-making.

Accompanied by music, the session moves between social, conversational making and quieter, focused moments, allowing everyone to engage in a way that feels comfortable. Participants create a series of small artworks to take home and contribute a piece to a growing collective artwork, a shared creation that evolves slowly, mark by mark, week by week.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Amanda Gorman is a multidisciplinary artist based on the Gold Coast, whose practice spans contemporary ink work, illustration, fine art and design.

Her work is driven by a deep curiosity about the world around her, drawing inspiration from both the subtle details of everyday life and the broader natural environment.

Amanda is also an accomplished illustrator, and has exhibited widely across the region through solo shows, art prizes and group exhibitions.

Extending beyond the gallery, Amanda collaborates with fashion and costume designers, translating her artwork into wearable pieces, including designs featured at the Gold Coast Music Awards. Her creative practice also includes product design, with artwork adapted for accessories such as tote bags and notebooks.
