Creative Minds - Dance Workshop

Program Overview:

This program offers a comprehensive introduction to three popular dance genres: Ballet, Contemporary/Modern Dance, and Jazz/Funk. Each class is meticulously crafted to build skills, confidence, and love for dance.

It is for children 8-12 years of age. All participants must be registered and complete the registration form - they are then booked in for all sessions. Parents/guardians are not required to attend once the child has been registered as a participant

Class Structure:

Weeks 1 & 2: Ballet
Learn the fundamental techniques of ballet, including posture, basic positions, and simple movements. Focus on developing grace, strength, and flexibility.

Weeks 3 & 4: Contemporary/Modern Dance
Explore the expressive and fluid movements of contemporary dance. Gain an understanding of floor work, improvisation, and emotive performance.

Weeks 5 & 6: Jazz/Funk
Dive into the energetic and rhythmic world of jazz and funk. Emphasise sharp movements, body isolations, and dynamic choreography.

Week 6 (Extended 1.5-hour Class):
A comprehensive review of all three dance genres. This extended session reinforces key learnings and provides an opportunity to combine and refine your skills.

Core Learnings:

  • Fundamental techniques and terminology of ballet, contemporary/modern dance, and jazz/funk.
  • Development of core strength, flexibility, coordination, and musicality.
  • Basic choreography and performance skills.
  • Confidence and self-expression through dance.
