Creative Pedagogy Introduction
Laidlaw College
Christchurch, New Zealand
Event description
@EventName is bought to you by Vida Schurr from Ako Leadership and Rachel de Vries from House of Bricks Ltd.
This workshop is designed as an entry to understanding how LEGO can be used as an intentional learning tool.
During this in-person workshop we will cover the following;
- Introduce and get hands-on with 3 LEGO-themed activities that kaiako/teachers can implement with tamariki/students of all ages tomorrow, using resources you already have.
- Introduce our mission and how it can positively impact and support the teaching, learning, and development already happening in education spaces today.
- Discuss what is the purpose of using LEGO* resources to support development and learning in the classroom (that can be applied to all year levels from ECE to Year 13!).
- We will discuss why use LEGO (especially when there are already so many other useful resources out there), how to set it up, and importantly how to set it up with what you already have or at least with minimal outlay.
- Provide you with relevant links to the NZ Curriculum and Te Whāriki, and explain some of the rich learning opportunities you and your students will receive from the challenges.
- And lastly, touch on what "thinking outside the box" really means and how can LEGO resources support this type of critical thinking.
Max 40 spaces available.
Held at Laidlaw College, Christchurch.
