What’s Haunting You?: A Creative Reflection Expressive Arts Workshop

What do we carry with us long after we thought we had left it behind?

This is a queer-centered Creative Reflection workshop inviting you to gently explore the memories, beliefs, expectations, identities, and experiences that continue to linger in our lives.

Through guided meditation, reflective journaling, and intuitive art-making, co-facilitators Laurie Wever and Ginger Harbin will create space for you to slow down, notice what comes forward, and express it in whatever way feels right for you.

You don’t need to know how to meditate, keep a journal, or make art. There is no “right” way to create here. Your journaling and artwork can be abstract, messy, symbolic, colorful, quiet, strange, simple or anything in between!

This workshop is especially created with LGBTQIA+ people and those navigating identity, change, belonging, deconstruction, loss, growth, or simply the complicated experience of becoming more fully themselves in mind.

What To Expect:

  • A welcoming, choice-based environment

  • Guided meditation and reflection led by Laurie

  • Journaling prompts to help you explore the workshop theme

  • Intuitive expressive art led by Ginger

  • Time to create without pressure or expectations

  • Opportunities for connection and reflection, with sharing always optional

All materials are provided, and no previous art experience is necessary.

This October workshop is the first in our Creative Reflection expressive arts series. We are combining reflection, creativity, and community as we explore the stories we carry and what may be ready to emerge next.

Come as you are. Create what comes. See what wants to be seen.

FAQs

  • Do I need art experience?

Not at all. This workshop is about expression, not artistic skill. There is no right or wrong way to create.

  • Do I need experience with meditation or journaling?

No. There will be gentle guidance during the meditation and reflective prompts, and you can participate in whatever way feels comfortable.

  • Is this therapy?

No. This is an expressive arts workshop, not a therapy group or clinical service. It is designed to offer space for reflection, creativity, and connection.

  • Will I have to share what I write or create?

No. Sharing is always optional. You are welcome to keep your reflections and artwork completely private.

  • What materials do I need to bring?

Nothing unless you have a favorite journal or art supply you’d like to use. All workshop materials will be provided.

  • What if something feels emotionally intense?

You are always welcome to pause, step out, skip a prompt, or participate in a different way. This is a choice-based experience, and you are encouraged to honor what feels right for you.

  • Is this workshop only for LGBTQIA+ participants?

The workshop is queer-centered and created with LGBTQIA+ experiences in mind, while welcoming participants who connect with the themes of identity, belonging, change, healing, and self-expression.
