Event description

Join fellow creatives for a multi-day social workshop to inspire, encourage, and spark new creative collaborations.

Special words from guest speakers Amber Creswell Bell and Amber Boardman. Both sharing inspiring and encouraging stories on the importance of hard work and persistence, self-motivation, collaboration, and professional insights for anyone on the creative journey. Followed by intentional time to listen, share, and connect with fellow creatives.  

This event is for creatives of any kind or medium looking for encouragement and inspiration into their artistic practice. Also a chance to meet fellow creatives and makers in your area to spark new friendships and collaborations.

Amber Creswell Bell is an art curator, an author of books on the arts, a lifestyle writer, a public speaker, an artist mentor and an enthusiastic creative hustler. With a passion for art, Amber is recognised for championing and educating emerging and unrepresented artists. She was the Director of Emerging Art for Michael Reid galleries, curating both the emerging art and ceramics programs from 2019-2025. In 2021 Amber established the National Emerging Art Prize (NEAP) in collaboration with Michael Reid. Amber has been curator of the NEAP since its inception.

Amber has published six art books with Thames & Hudson to date: Her first book, Clay, released October 2016, showcases over 50 contemporary ceramic artisans from Australia and abroad. Amber’s second book, A Painted Landscape, released in October 2018, profiles the diverse work of 50 of Australia’s landscape painters. 2021 saw the release of Amber’s monograph on artist Ken Done ‘Art. Design. Life’, as well as Still Life – a compilation of Australian still life painters which won Illustrated Non-fiction Book of the Year at the Indie Book Awards. Australian Abstract, was released in March 2023, and was awarded Illustrated Book of the Year at the Australia Book Industry Awards. Her most recent book, About Face was released in September 2024.


Amber Boardman is an American-born, Sydney-based artist whose work explores the influence of the internet on crowds and social norms. Boardman's exhibitions of large, narrative and interconnected paintings serve as anthropological visual essays that explore facets of the internet from different angles.  

Amber Boardman’s 20+year history of exhibiting her work internationally includes shows in arts institutions in New York, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Miami, Atlanta, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Notable exhibitions include BAM's Next Wave Festival in New York, Postmasters Gallery in Rome, and the Archibald, Mosman and Geelong Prizes in Australia.

Over the last two decades, she has been committed to fostering the creative talent of artists. Boardman holds a PhD in Fine Art and has been an invited speaker at universities, art galleries and museums since 2011. She has lectured in art and animation at leading universities in the US and Australia. Boardman has founded shared studio/exhibition spaces in both Brooklyn NY and Sydney Australia and continues to facilitate the exchange of ideas between artists internationally with her Virtual Studio Visit events.
