Presented by Randwick City Council, Sector Sessions is a year-round program of workshops and drop-in sessions designed to support and strengthen creative practice. Led by industry professionals, it offers a space for artists to build skills, share knowledge, and connect with others navigating the realities of creative work.
About the Session
This real-world workshop explores the mystery of marketing for creatives, with a focus on strategy and client/customer relations. It also examines some of the key elements necessary for a successful real-world and online marketing campaign.
The perfect starter workshop for anyone in creative industry that needs a practical and straightforward introduction to the basics of marketing.
Participants will learn all the following, with a focus on arts practice and creative industries:
Re-imagining traditional marketing in a way that makes sense for creativity and the arts.
Getting the foundational elements of “YOU” marketing right, without the terror of a deadline.
Understating the breadth of our ‘customers’, from clients to funding bodies to audience.
Knowing and learning from our peers, and from word-of-mouth.
Choosing the best digital and traditional tactics to help achieve your marketing goals.
More resources and templates will also be provided to help create a marketing action plan. This workshop has been designed by creatives for creatives and includes ideas for ‘homework’.
About the Facilitator
Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries with a background in journalism, filmmaking and production.
As director of Creative Plus Business Monica uses her expertise to help other creatives develop and improve their business skills. She now works with individual practitioners and larger arts organisations as a business advisor, strategic consultant and workshop facilitator. Monica focuses on goal setting, business and strategic planning, financial literacy, capacity building and marketing, helping hundreds of arts practitioners to become both creatively and economically self-sufficient.
Access
The entrance to Prince Henry Centre is through double doors accessible via steps from Pine Avenue or via a ramp from the carpark.
