SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED:

Grab your quills, dust off your half-finished manuscripts and gather all your floating lines of poetry because this is the day you've been waiting for.

The day’s schedule is as follows:

8.30am: How could we host an event about creative writing without books?! We're pleased to be hosting Kylie from
Berkelouw Books in Eumundi. Our resident bookseller will be on site from the morning stocking local authors, books on writing and writing materials. If you haven't been to Berkelouw Books in Eumundi, we highly recommend! They have an incredible variety of new release and second-hand titles, and this is a regular haunt for our Plot Twist Writers.

9.00 - 9.15am: Event starts - housekeeping/welcome and some words from Emeritus Professor Gary Crew.

During his publishing career of over 30 years, Gary has won the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book of the Year four times, twice for novels and twice for his picture books; the New South Wales Premier's Award, the Victorian Premier's Award, the American Children's Book of Distinction, the Aurealis Best Children's Short Fiction, the Wilderness Society's Award for Environmental Writing, and the Royal Geographic Society Whitley Award.

9.15 - 10.30am: Memoir writing with Dr Paul Williams.

Paul's memoir Soldier Blue was nominated as Book of the Year, South Africa, in 2008. His work is not limited to memoir, having published several titles for children, a collection of short stories, crime thrillers and books on writing. This is a workshop not to be missed!

10.30 - 11.30am: Writing Poetry with Dr Ginna Brock. Could we have asked for someone better to teach poetry? We think not. An expert in Shakespeare and a passionate poet, Ginna has published in script-writing, poetry, and songwriting. Prepare to traverse a diverse poetic landscape as she introduces you to poetic, ludic and narratorial techniques to enhance and refine your craft.

11.30 - 12.00pm : 30 min morning tea (catered) – if you are around at this time, please advise in advance if you have any dietary requirements.

Budding writers, this is the time to be brave and chat to your fellow creatives. Who knows, you could find the editor you've always dreamed of, or you might just connect with like-minded scribblers who could be your solace and support on your sometimes terrific and often torturous writing journey. These people are GOLD, don't be afraid to reach out and say hello, they are probably as reclusive as you are.

12.00 - 1.00pm: Writing Your First Novel with Emeritus Professor Gary Crew. Excuse us while we cue for an autograph!

Gary Crew is well known for his rich, multi-layered and intensely suspenseful bestselling novels for young adults, as well as his many picture books for younger readers. His books have won many awards and include The Inner Circle, The House of Tomorrow, Strange Objects, The Blue Feather, Angel’s Gate, No Such Country, The Watertower, In My Father’s Room, Old Ridley, Beneath the Surface and The Lantern
