Technology-enabled Transdisciplinary Learning in a Traditional School Context

This study investigates the implementation of transdisciplinary pedagogical approaches within conventional educational contexts, emphasising transdisciplinarity as a capability that enables students to navigate complex, real-world challenges.

Central to this work is the use of technologies to capture student thinking and real-time learning data, supporting both formative assessment and the development of students' ability to integrate knowledge across domains. Building upon preliminary findings from our pilot research, which utilised activity theory as a theoretical framework, this presentation will report on a professional learning intervention designed to support teachers in designing learning to enhance students' critical voice, agency and action-orientation while exploring how digital tools and mobile data collection can provide insights into their cognitive processes.

This presentation will present analysis of how a structured collaborative expansive learning intervention with teaching professionals can foster learning environments that empower students to engage meaningfully with multifaceted societal issues through intra-disciplinary depth, transdisciplinary inquiry, and technology-enhanced reflective learning practices.
