Event description

Hosted by Darebin Creek Management Committee & Friends of Darebin Creek

Join us for a rewarding day of nature, community, and conservation as we plant 850 native seedlings along the beautiful Darebin Creek!

We’ll be planting a mix of shrubs, sedges, and rushes beneath the River Red Gums and Blackwood trees, helping to strengthen the habitat corridor and create vital stepping stones for local wildlife. This work supports small native birds like the Eastern Spinebill, Spotted Pardalote, Brown Thornbill, and Grey Fantail—all recently spotted nearby!

  • Help restore and enhance local biodiversity

  • Learn about native plants and creek ecology

  • Connect with your community and enjoy the outdoors

  • Be part of a larger effort to green the corridor from Norris Bank Reserve to the Metropolitan Ring Road

All are welcome—no experience needed! Bring your friends, family, and a love for nature. Tools and guidance provided.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to a healthier, more connected Darebin Creek.

On-street parking is available on Cabernet Cres; enter at 39W and walk west to the site.

If you're on the Darebin Creek Trail, cross the Greenhills Rd pedestrian bridge and head north-west to the site.

Please wear: sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather (warm jacket, raincoat, sun hat etc.)
Please bring:
plenty of drinking water and gloves if you have them (or use ours)
