Creswick Goes Classical - with Hepburn Players | Saturday 29 July, 2pm | Creswick Neighbourhood Centre, Victoria Street, Creswick

A concert series created with support from Regional Arts Victoria, and managed by the volunteer team at CresFest INC, as a way to provide great local players with an outlet, and local audiences with a new experience. Classical music concerts are rare in our town, and we want people to hear the great composers of the past (and some living as well) in intimate settings. On Saturday 29 July we bring you the well-loved Hepburn Players, led by harpsichordist Andrew Welsh from Daylesford, and focusing on music from the baroque era (mostly 18th century).

Joining Andrew will be a full string orchestra with players from across the region. The group is delighted to be able to present not just one but three of Bach's celebrated Brandenburg Concertos. The extraordinary Concerto Number 6 is a rare opportunity to hear the rich tones of two viola soloists, along with two viola da gambas. The highlight is sure to be Concerto Number 4, which features local star violinist Jeremy Blackman and two of Australia's finest recorder soloists, Rod Waterman and Ruth Wilkinson.

We are also thrilled to welcome tenor Tim Drylie, who will also be performing two beautiful Handel arias and songs by Dowland and Monteverdi.

You'll be treated to an afternoon tea provided by the CresFest committee, with our famous CresFest rolling raffle as a way to further support music in the community.
