Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Club has been very lucky to secure an international level Technical Delegate, Mike Dalmau, to talk all things cross country judging just before our One Day Event.

Mike is a Level 2 FEI Technical Delegate. He has officiated at numerous international and national 3 Day and 1 Day events.

The FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) is the world governing body for horse sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Eventing is the ultimate test of horse and rider. One event, with three Olympic disciplines, testing the partnership between horse and rider in the dressage arena, show jumping and of course, the cross country course.

Cross country is the highlight. It is fast, exciting and challenging, with riders and horses covering long distances with numerous fixed obstacles, water, ditches and brush jumps and combinations – it has it all!

We can’t run events without judges, and for cross country, we need a lot of judges! You don’t need to be an eventer, or even a horsey person.

FTPEC’s Information Evening will cover:

· how to put yourself in position, use the stopwatch and record each rider’s time

· what is a refusal, a run out, or re-presenting at the jump

· how to judge a combination

· what is a hold on course and how to re-start

· anything else that comes up!

Fig Tree Pocket is an amazing venue – 40 acres just 12km from the Brisbane CBD. With a purpose built 120m x 80m sand arena and a CCI3*-S course, it’s unique in any city environment.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be out on a cross country cause, getting up close to some of the best horse/rider combinations in QLD and playing an critical role in the success of a competition?

As a jump judge, your primary responsibility will be to assess and record the faults made by each Competitor at your cross country obstacle on the score sheets provided

Come and join the Cross Country equestrian community for an information night on 'Being a Cross Country Jump Judge. This evening has been designed to educate people about the role and the responsibilities of being a jump judge.

It will be a very informative evening and the FTP equestrian centre will put on drinks and BBQ.
