Cross-Cultural Parenting Workshop
Building Connection, Confidence & Calm at Home
Parenting in a new country can be both exciting and challenging.
You love your children deeply—but sometimes differences in culture, expectations, and behaviours can make parenting feel overwhelming. You are not alone.
This workshop is designed especially for ethnic parents from diverse language groups. Together, we’ll explore practical ways to handle challenging behaviour, encourage good choices, and strengthen family bonds—all within a New Zealand context, while respecting your cultural perspectives.
Morning Session (Parents of children under 12)
Learn tools and approaches for guiding younger children through their big emotions and everyday challenges. Topics include:
- The right mindset for transformation 
- Encouraging good behaviours 
- Empowering your child 
- Family meetings 
- The 5 R’s of Consequences 
Afternoon Session (Parents of children 12–18)
Support your tweens and teens as they grow towards independence, while keeping connection strong. Topics include:
- The right mindset for transformation 
- The top 3 parenting blunders (and how to avoid them) 
- The “Convince Me” tool 
- How to be “on their team” 
- The 5 R’s of Consequences 
Why join?
- Gain practical strategies you can use straight away 
- Share experiences with other parents—you are not alone 
- Strengthen your relationships with your children 
- Learn ways to manage conflict and find peace at home 
- Build on the Parenting Foundations course run by Shama in Nelson at Victory (May 2025)

Afternoon (12–18): 12:30 to 3:00
