Crunch Time: Saving Tura’s Biodiversity is a film which aims to bring our community together to help save crucial forests, stop climate change and get control of natural disasters. It’s also about saving Tura Beach, Mirador and Back Lagoon from a dangerous development project approved 33 years ago.

The short film is an exciting passion project of two local young people, Jacob Shields and Jordan Mundey (their bios are below). The film captures a range of community perspectives, including from local Aboriginal people, and highlights the importance and need for urgent action from all levels of Government and the local community to ensure biodiversity and the precious remaining environments on the Far South Coast are protected and preserved for all the generations to come.

Following the screening there will be a Q&A session with Cathy Griff (Greens candidate), Michael Holland (Labour candidate), Nathan Lygon (First Nations community leader and educator), and the filmmakers.

The Filmmakers:

Jordan Mundey is a passionate and accomplished 19-year-old director, cinematographer, filmmaker, and publisher from the New South Wales south coast. He has created market leading content and films for brands both within Australia and internationally. Jordan is an inspired director who aims to create compelling imagery as well as meaningful work with a focus on sustainable and socially responsible endeavours.

Jacob Shields is a filmmaker and youth project coordinator from Tura Beach, NSW. Driven by a sense of responsibility for his local community and environment, Jacob became increasingly involved in environmental and social justice issues during his senior years at highschool. This included joining Friends of CRUNCH in 2022 to aid in the community opposition to the destruction of biodiversity in Tura Beach. Since graduating Jacob has continued his work with CRUNCH, while also starting other projects that aim to foster sustainable attitudes to the environment and strengthen communities.
