CSO & Rova Present: Ladyhawke with CSO
Description
David Kay - Conductor
Aotearoa New Zealand’s indie-rock synth-pop queen, Ladyhawke, is coming to Ōtautahi to play live for the first time with Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Fresh off the back of her UK/Europe tour celebrating the 15th anniversary of her self-titled debut album and with a new album to be released in 2027, Ladyhawke will bring her 2000s-era grunge and expertly crafted songwriting to the Christchurch Town Hall stage.
Rising to fame in 2008 with her hit single My Delirium, Ladyhawke’s musical history goes back even further as a member of Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington band Two Lane Blacktop. Once a shy drummer from the Wairarapa, Ladyhawke moved to Sydney and went solo in 2006. Her solo project, Ladyhawke, was inspired by her desire to do her own thing where she could completely express herself in any way she wanted.
From the playful, rebellious momentum of her debut album, the spiky pop-punk of Anxiety, the synthy love songs of Wild Things, to the grungy, electric-pop hooks of Time Flies, experience Ladyhawke’s legendary fusion of guitar and electronic sound rearranged with the full power of a symphony orchestra. Full-power. Big noise. Synth-pop meets the orchestra.
