Cultivating Emotional Balance: Full Course
Event description
Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) is a training to use the experience of emotion as a path for developing stable happiness and wellbeing for ourselves and in relation to others.
By integrating the wisdom traditions of modern psychology, current emotion research, and contemplative practices, CEB provides a secular platform for transformation. It's about getting emotions to work for you, which is how they evolved in the first place.
With CEB's tools, you can draw upon your innate human capacity to cultivate stable well-being and become an important and respected member of your community.
You will learn a unique combination of contemplative practices and modern psychology on emotions to FIRST: gain control over our emotional reactions (what you say and do when you're emotional), THEN: transform these very emotional experiences into opportunities for stable wellbeing, stronger relationships and confidence to face inevitable upheavals of the 21st century.
The contemplative side of CEB includes a wide range of practices to cultivate mindfulness, kindness, compassion, equanimity, empathic joy, and insight. These practices are taught as they exist in the Buddhist sources and applied to emotions to put you in the driver's seat of your own wellbeing and mental health. Most importantly, you are empowered to choose the best practices that are right for you with a deep understanding of how to do them, why they work, and when to use them.
Each day is hands-on, with guided meditation sessions to introduce new practices and time to discuss how to get the most out of them and do them effectively. There will also be classes on the mechanics of emotions, how the meditation practices will get them on your side, and a closer look at seven emotions: anger, sadness (and depression), fear (and anxiety), disgust, contempt, and enjoyable emotions.
These sessions are full of fascinating content and resources that support you to put what you learn into practice from day one. This course is designed to give you direct experience of the potential in this combination of approaches to control your own mental health and wellbeing. Each week builds on the previous as you understand emotions more deeply and learn increasingly more subtle meditation practices and theory to get them working for you.
You are welcome to purchase a ticket for the first day introduction, or the entire course (which is a little cheaper).
