Building Cultural Awareness

Kaarla Babbpa's Cultural Responsiveness - Building Cultural Awareness training is the first of three training workshops aimed at developing your cultural intelligence. This 1-day workshop will guide you through a comprehensive and immersive training journey. Through an interactive workshop, engaging discussions, and experiential activities, you will gain a rich understanding of Aboriginal cultures, values, protocols, and ways of knowing, being, doing and belonging.

This training employs a range of strategies takes a look at Aboriginal history and culture since colonisation and provides a foundation for further learning and cultural capability.

This training workshop aims to explore the following issues;

• Aboriginal History: explore the timeline and impacts of colonisation on Aboriginal people.
• Aboriginal Culture: explore the domains of Aboriginal culture and ways of being.
• Cultural Awareness in the Workplace: explore diversity and inclusion, overcoming cultural barriers in teamwork, managing conflicts arising from cultural differences, and creating an inclusive work environment.
• Cultural Awareness and Social Justice: explore issues such as privilege, cultural appropriation, systemic discrimination, and promoting equity and inclusion.
• Personal Reflection and Bias Awareness: Cultural awareness training often encourages participants to reflect on their own cultural backgrounds, biases, and assumptions.
