Banyule is proud to be a partner for The Greening the Birrarung project, which brings together Traditional Owners, councils, agencies, and communities to restore and protect biodiversity along the Birrarung (Yarra river) from source to sea. This partnership honours Traditional Owner knowledge which understands the Birrarung is a living entity, and aims to enhance wildlife corridors, support habitat restoration, and inspire collective action for a healthier, thriving Birrarung.
As part of Riverfest 2025, our partners are hosting a fantastic series of wildlife focused and greening events – from nest box monitoring, nocturnal animal walks to community plantings led by Wurundjeri woi-wurrung representatives. Join us and be part of the story. Find out more at Greening the Birrarung project or see the full list of event at www.riverfest.org.au
