    Headliner: International First Nations Artist Fred Leone 

    Experience the deep cultural impact and incredible talent of Fred Leone.

    Fred is a cultural leader, artist and one of the Indigenous Butchulla Songmen with Aboriginal, Tongan and South Sea Islander roots. Fred is the founder of QLD's only Indigenous owned and operated record label "Impossible Odds".

    Fred has toured internationally, recently performed all over Europe with Xavier Rudd. We are truly honored and thrilled to welcome Fred Leone on this side of the Butchulla Country. 

    Fred latest original music project - Yirinda - is his vehicle to raise awareness of the language and stories of his people.

    Screening of thought provoking Shorts directed by Fred Leone. Importantly, these shorts are part of the "Wunungu Awara Animating Indigenous Knowledges" Program. 

    K’gari Nangarim - KGari Dreaming’ – This story from Buthculla country is the Law for K’Gari, once called Fraser Island. This story tells of how the island came into being through the actions of the beautiful woman K’Gari and the Rainbow Serpent. 
    Duwarra Wujara
    (Two Young Men) – Follow the journey of two young Law-breaking young men. They break the rules for their initiation ceremony and are eventually punished by the Rainbow Serpent. This is a story from Yanyuwa country. (All of these animation belong to Fred’s Butchulla family from K’Gari and his Garrwa and Yanyuwa family from the Gulf of Carpentaria)

    Kingfisher Dreaming, First Nations Art Exhibit
    Discover the mesmerizing works of First Nations artist Elise Bailey. Elise is a proud Malanbarra Yidinji and Torres Strait Islander Woman, she is a long term local in Rainbow Beach. Her pieces are a very colourful and a creation combination from the soul, the environment and her personal growth.

    Book Presentation: "A Rainbow Story with Sofia and Matisse" by Elisa Seul.  Premiere presentation of "A Rainbow Story with Sofia and Matisse" the children's book that tributes the Butchulla heritage of Rainbow Beach and the contemporary multiculturalism. Elisa Seul has collaborated with auntie Karen Hall as Cultural Consultant and Alessia Castiglioni (from Lexi's Illustrator). Alessia has tributed the colorful abundance of her adopted home showcasing the beauty and importance of the preservation of Rainbow Beach natural surroundings and cultural roots. This project started in 2022 thanks to the Gympie Regional Council Regional Arts Development Funding, via the CIRS Inc. Association.

    ***Kids and students under 14 yrs old have free entry and must be accompanied by a paying adult. We encourage you to expose the younger generation to this cultural event, for their own learning and experience. Respect and calm during the book reading, shorts screening and the performance are a must. Thank you.

    A key partner is the CIRS Association t/a Rainbow Beach Community Centre who is sponsoring the use of the beautiful venue. 

    We will have chairs set up, feel free to bring cushion for your comfort, a camping chair and BYO drinks as there will not be alcohol sold during the event.

    The Venue is indoor, so the event will go ahead under any weather conditions. But tickets are limited due to capacity. Thank you!
