    Event description

Cupcakes and Yoga - it’s all about balance!

Wellbeing sessions for parents of teenagers

Did you know that as parents of teenagers, our wellbeing can be negatively impacted? We may experience increased stress because there’s possibly a few more conflicts, not to mention worry!

BUT, while parenting teens can be demanding, it also offers opportunities for connection, as well as personal growth.

It’s all about balance, hey? And restoring some of the goodness back to our worlds as we can.

Cupcakes and Yoga offers just this - it’s a combo of talking about what we can do to care for our wellbeing (while eating cupcakes), followed by mindfulness and yoga. All of which you can copy and paste into your ordinary normal lives.

Who will you be sharing cupcakes and yoga with? - Your facilitators:

Anna Mowat - the cupcakes part (30 minutes)

Anna has a background in psychology and English and worked across many national wellbeing initiatives, including as a trainer for New Zealand Institute of Wellbeing and Resilience alongside Dr Lucy Hone and Dr Denise Quinlan, an advisor for the, All Right? campaign, project lead for Sparklers and Manahau (school wellbeing initiatives) and even advised for TVNZ on child wellbeing.

She also directs Real Parents and is a mum... And yes, she will bring cupcakes!

Erica Viedma- the yoga part (30 minutes)

Erica has a background in teaching dance, yoga, and mindfulness. She has taught the Mindful Schools curriculum in schools since 2013 and has gone on to train with MTIA to provide Mindful Based Stress Reduction courses for parents and teachers.

During your yoga/mindfulness part of the session, you'll be introduced to some different ways you can bring mindfulness and yoga into your daily life. This will include some breathwork, gentle movement, and simple meditations.

What else might you need to know?

Anna and Erica and known for their ‘there’s no such thing as an expert’ modelling. They share their experiences freely and the word ‘real’ in Anna’s organisation, Real Parents is her absolute truth. Anna and Erica are funny, authentic, and mums who love other parents to not feel alone in their parenting.

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in, some yoga mats will be provided, but bring yours if you have one.
