Established by artists in 1983, Artspace has grown into a dynamic institution bringing together exhibitions, commissions, studios, residencies, research, publishing, public programs, learning, archives and international partnerships.

Artists remain at the centre of the organisation. Through an interconnected, multi-platform approach, Artspace provides the time, space, resources, relationships and opportunities for artists to experiment, take risks and develop their practices over time. The redevelopment of The Gunnery has enabled Artspace to move beyond a collection of individual programs towards a larger ecosystem of artistic support, where artists can move between studios, exhibitions, commissions, publications, residencies and international opportunities throughout their careers.
