OUR WHY: Supporting Meg & Kate
This year's Ladies Day is proudly raising funds for two very special members of our Curra Swans family.
Our beloved former Women's Coach, Meg Greenland, and her wife Kate are facing an incredibly difficult journey after Kate was recently diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes and spine. This heartbreaking news comes just months before they welcome their third child into the world.
Meg has been an integral part of the Curra Swans Football Club, both as a player and as our Women's Coach from 2020 to 2024. During her five seasons as coach, she led our women's program to four Grand Finals and two premierships, while dedicating countless hours to mentoring, developing and inspiring women in football across both Curra Swans and AFL Townsville.
Kate has been just as much a part of the Curra community, always supporting the club behind the scenes and lending a hand wherever it was needed.
Now, it's our turn to support them.
The emotional and financial pressures of cancer treatment, ongoing medical appointments and preparing to welcome a new baby are immense. Every dollar raised from this event will go directly towards helping Meg, Kate and their growing family navigate the months ahead.
