Currumbin Estuary Master Plan/Public Meeting
Event description
Do we need Master Plan for Currumbin Estuary parklands?
Many locals think we do, so we invite you to a public meeting on 7th March at Palm Beach Sports Club to hear all about the benefits of a master plan.
Currumbin Estuary is a place of exceptional beauty, loved by many and so it is important that it is protected while still being enjoyed by all.
Gecko Environment Council and several other local community organisations have become aware of a variety of projects, either underway or planned, by Gold Coast City Council, Dept. of Main Roads, and Gold Coast Waterways Authority for Currumbin Estuary.
The overall aim of these projects is to improve the public enjoyment of the parklands and waterways, but there does not appear to be any coordination between the projects, and we have concerns that one project may have impacts on another. For this reason, the groups listed below are calling on Council to undertake a master plan for the Estuary which will coordinate the projects and to ensure environmentally sustainable active transport linkages for the whole estuary, protection of natural landscape amenity, and linkages for flora and fauna.
