Event description

Cutting Shapes // with DJ Ramanui

On Thursday the 3rd of October, DJ Ramanui will be gracing the notorious decks of Flux to celebrate his musical journey.

Cutting Shapes will be an inclusive night to open up the world of dance music to all, a night to remember.

Te Ramanui has been busy honing his craft behind the wheels, with weekly sessions his DJ skill has developed beyond his bedroom and its time to introduce DJ Ramanui to the world.

From early years, Te has shown an innate sense of rhythm and melody, and an ability to uplift the mood of parties from weddings to dance performances, it only seemed fitting to Te Ramanui and his family that DJing would be up his alley. Te and his family had started looking outside of the box for a way to find Te employment and work. Te Ramanui’s Mum was attending lots of workshops regarding what a good life looks like for someone with an intellectual disability. Focussing on his strengths and passions, which include stages, music, big speakers, and hospitals, and after stealing the show at a wedding reception, the idea of Te becoming a DJ became obvious. Te also has a great connection with people, and an innate ability to read the room and lift the energy! This paired with an undeniable natural ability with music, an intuitive sense of rhythm and the ability to pick up the melody and sing along to tunes he has never heard before, gives Te the perfect recipe to become a Disc Jockey like no other. DJ Ramanui weaves through the genres, and with a hefty and varied selection, it is a night you don't want to miss.

Doors open from 7, music from 7.30 - DJ Ramanui all night long!

We ask for a koha donation to contribute towards fundraising Te Ramanui to continue pursuing music, and we will take donations on the night.
