LUCIA CANUTO trained as a printmaker and continues to use this medium in her own practice. Since moving back to a rural setting she has experimented with DIY techniques that don't require expensive equipment or a heavy printing press. In an old cooking pot fabrics are transformed in a process reminiscent of alchemy, using plant and synthesised dyes. Lucia sources archival print material, including italian newspapers from the 1970s and photos from her phone to assemble playful compositions.
She currently teaches with Virginia Reid at the Byron Community College, where she will be offering some short and longer form art courses in 2025.

We look forward to welcoming the community back for our second summer series of the SEAWEED SALON.
