Kelcy Ballantyne
Kelcy joined IT Partners in 2019 and has been at the helm since last year. For more than 25 years, IT Partners has helped businesses across New Zealand use technology more effectively, providing expertise across managed IT, cyber security, data, AI and strategy. Kelcy holds a Master of Digital Business, with her thesis exploring the adoption of AI by NZ SMEs. She has also completed Harvard Business School’s Driving Corporate Performance programme and, most recently, its Leading Professional Service Firms certification. In 2024, she was named Rising Star at the Women in ICT Awards. Kelcy is passionate about helping New Zealand businesses use technology to become more resilient, productive and prepared for the future. In this session, she will explore cyber security through a governance lens, including the responsibility of leaders in building cyber resilience, what can happen when governance is missing, and the practical steps organisations can take to reduce risk and respond effectively when an incident occurs.
Andy Hughes
Andy has spent nearly twenty years helping organisations of all sizes improve their data protection, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity posture, both in New Zealand and internationally. During that time, he has helped customers navigate major technology shifts, including virtualisation, cloud computing, and AI. He describes his approach as being grounded in strong fundamentals while remaining flexible enough to embrace innovation when it delivers real business value. Currently, as a Principal Solutions Engineer at F5, he works with customers to secure their web and mobile applications, as well as AI-powered solutions.
Ed Barker
Ed has over 9 years’ senior manager experience in public sector project and programme management, tackling a wide range of critical public-facing projects and programmes. In every project he has led, the end-user or customer has remained at the centre. He brings that view to the insurance sector, ensuring that customers remain at the centre of the process from start to finish. He’s a passionate tech enthusiast and loves working with tech companies to navigate their business insurance needs. Ed keeps his finger to the pulse of the sector and freely shares this knowledge, insights, and experience.
Natasha Alley
Natasha is an experienced litigator and adjudicator. She joined Tompkins Wake after a decade as an Assistant Commissioner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand and has recently made Partner. In her quasi-judicial role there, Natasha issued trade marks and designs decisions, with a right of appeal to the High Court. She has determined some of the most complex and significant cases before IPONZ. Prior to her appointment as an Assistant Commissioner, Natasha practiced civil and commercial litigation at two of New Zealand’s leading firms. She has appeared at all levels of the New Zealand courts, including the Supreme Court. She also represents clients in alternative dispute resolution processes. Natasha has extensive experience in intellectual property litigation, particularly in relation to trade marks. She has acted for numerous clients on a wide range of media law issues, including defamation, Broadcasting Standards Authority complaints, and privacy issues. Natasha acted for the successful defendants in two of the leading cases on the tort of privacy in New Zealand. Her dispute resolution experience also includes advising on sports law issues.
