    Event description

FRIDAY 11TH OCTOBER - DAI, CICCIO! - ITALIAN SWING DANCE PARTY!
    DOORS: 7.30PM / SHOW: 9-11PM / TICKETS: $20 online $25 on the door

Led by soprano, Cristina Russo (Opera Australia, Victoria Opera), this fine group of musicians takes the listener on a tour of Italy’s ‘Golden Era’ of Italian Swing and Pop. 1950s Jazz Crooners Fred Buscaglione and Carla Boni give way to 1960s Pop Divas Mina and Ornella Vanoni, and of course a night of Italian song is never complete without tipping the hat to the songs of Italian-America. Expect raucous Louis Prima repertoire, paired with smooth songs of Dean Martin and associates.

*For this dance party edition, Dai, Ciccio! will include fiery folk songs from the pizzica and tarentella traditions to keep the dance floor alight*

Dai, Ciccio! translates to the Australian encouragement, ‘Come on, mate!’ and invites audiences to come and take part in a celebration of the bella vita in a way only the Italian Golden Age of song can do.

    The Lineup:

    Vocals: Cristina Russo

    Guitar: Adam Russo

    Saxophone & Clarinet: Jon Hunt

    Double Bass: Tom Flenady

    Drums: Ronny Ferella
