    Event description

    DAMP Video Anthology
    Saturday 26 October, 4.00pm – 6.00pm

Presented by Rosemary Forde ahead of the launch of her new publication, Art holds a high place in my life: DAMP Monograph 1995–, published by 3-ply.

Please join us for this one-off screening program highlighting DAMP's work in video, which has been a versatile and effective medium for the long-running Melbourne artist group. This selection of short video works made between 1997 and 2008, range from quickly captured playful scenarios to elaborately constructed narratives.

DAMP is a collaborative artist group established in Narrm Melbourne in 1995. Over three decades, DAMP’s multidisciplinary practice has addressed the relationship between artist and audience, and examined the individual and collective notions of value and desire. Often bringing elements of improvisation, humour and play to their structured group process, DAMP have exhibited sculpture, video, drawing, installation, public art, painting, photography – but are perhaps best known for their performative and participatory works made in exchange with audiences.

The screening will be introduced by curator Rosemary Forde and members of DAMP. Pre-ordering of the limited edition monograph will be available at the event.
