Event description

AN EVENING OF AMPLIFIED ACOUSTIC MUSIC, NEW FOLK SOUNDS AND STORYTELLING

Dan Tuffy is Australian but has been living in The Netherlands since 1994 where he works as a producer and storyteller. Although involved in countless recording projects and productions his solo career began later in life with his 2017 debut “SONGS FROM DAN” which was hailed as a “downright masterpiece” by the international press. His 2020 follow-up “LETTERS OF GOLD” generated yet more superlatives both here and abroad. Dan is coming to the Junk Bar in Brisbane for an exclusive one-off show. He will be presenting material from his past as well as his new album
“COUNTRY STAR” (Released on June 2) which is currently gathering momentum both here and abroad. On stage with him will be the extraordinarily talented bassist/backing vocalist Madelief van Vlijmen. With influences from the
dustbowl to now, their show is a sonic masterpiece of story-telling and pulsing
acoustic grooves.

"Dan's songs are of that rarified quality that make him the envy of most singer-songwriters" (The Independent UK)

Bella Frankie represent an exciting new folk sound emerging out of the Northern Rivers of NSW. Intricate harmonies and a complete out-of-the box approach to songwriting and performing is what sets them apart. Sometimes whacky, sometimes funny and sometimes heart-achingly moving. The Bella Frankie sound is thoroughly unique.

Jimmy Dowling is an astounding song-writing talent. "Listening to Jimmy is like stumblimg across a lovingly built artefact in some out of the way store – something you can cherish but which others might never have the joy of witnessing… if you were wavering, Jim will make you believe in the power of music again.’ (Rhythms Magazine AU)
