Dan Withey: Mono-Print Performance at 'Finite Bounty'

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

We invite you to join renowned contemporary South Australian artist Dan Withey within the walls of his current exhibition, Finite Bounty, as he creates a limited series of mono-prints on the day right before your eyes.

Dan’s mono-printing process encapsulates sketches and their casual nature, allowing for less pressure compared to painting on more distinctive forms like canvas. This technique takes the pressure off producing artworks that conform to industry and capitalistic standards; “Allowing room for muses to be discovered.”

To release a stream of consciousness onto paper, provides a unique opportunity for Dan. He states that when studying projects, he has access to a wealth of information that can become overwhelming. The freedom of Mono-printing enables him to translate that information as the catalyst for artistic creation. According to Dan, it's like putting together the puzzle pieces for the entire narrative as you go.

Finite Bounty features captivating visual art that explores the concept of New Animism through his painted and printed works. Drawing from indigenous customs, beliefs, and modern scientific knowledge, Dan emphasises the interconnectedness of all beings and their inherent value. His work invites us to ponder the animist’s perspective and its influence on our behaviour and relationship with the Earth.

Join us for the Dan Withey Mono-Printing event to witness Dan in his pure flow of creation; through unfiltered flow of consciousness and discovering the true meaning of art.

This event will take place at Praxis Artspace on the 7th of October 2023, and will run throughout the day from 12pm until gallery closing time at 4pm. This is also the final day to experience Dan's current exhibition Finite Bounty at praxis ARTSPACE.

Our premises are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us for any specific accommodations or questions.
