LOCATION
The Founders Room, Salamanca Arts Centre, 77 Salamanca Place, Hobart
Entry via Wooby's Lane or the lift in The Courtyard
In this workshop, participants will be guided through the fundamentals between movement and interactive design. Participants will engage with circuit boards, computer vision and proximity measuring hardware to create installations, situations and scenes of movement and computational performance.
You will also learn to construct dance in collaboration, drawing inspiration on architectural structures and applying patterns, angles and intersections to movement choreography.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Wear something comfortable and easy to move in. Bring a drink bottle and socks.
STRUCTURE: The workshop will firstly guide you through a gentle movement warmup, attention will be directed toward opening awareness space and your kinetic presence in it.
Followed by a research period where you will experience how the human body, through design and movement, can become a conduit for completing a computational circuit.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES: Participants will experience how they can draw inspiration from architecture and everyday movements to create and design engaging segments of dance. Participants will acquire a deeper appreciation of technology in creating interactive performances and how this can form new ways of engaging in teamwork.
