DANCE DEMOCRACY: Scratch Night 

Throw your name in the hat and get up and perform any style

A bit like an open mic night, Scratch Night gives you the chance to share a short dance piece with an audience. You can perform solo, with a friend, or in a small group.This is an opportunity to just get up and dance without any costumes or props. The best part is you don't need any previous experience - dance is for everyone!

Whether you're keen to improv to some music, show us a short dance you’ve been working on,  bust out your best viral choreography with a friend, or just come along to watch and soak up the talent. Scratch night is a welcoming space, with a party vibe, featuring a live DJ, and secret door prizes, our host will guide you through as we dance, celebrate, and party together!

🟢 Guild Theatre, Level 2, Arts and Cultural Building, University of Melbourne

Want to guarantee your spot to dance at Scratch Night? 

• Register for a Performer ticket by March 31st (there'll be a sign-up blackboard on the night if you miss pre-registration)
• Performances are strictly limited to 3 minutes in length
• You can bring your own music, or improvise to our live DJ!
• Performers can present a dance solo, in a duo, or a group
  
• Any genre or style of dance is welcome!
• Please limit any props or costumes, we're keeping things simple, it's all about the dance! 

Want to watch?

• Register for a General Admission ticket (if you decide to perform on the night, there'll be a sign-up blackboard available)
• You can sit and watch, vibe at the sides, or groove along! 

About Dance Democracy

Dance Democracy is a two-week program of dance and movement events, presented by Union House Theatre in association with UMSU. Choreograph new works, perform for an audience, or join a workshop and dance battle. Whether you’re a pro dancer or have two left feet, you’ll enjoy our two-week program of offerings in the Guild Theatre 31 March – 12 April.
