LGI’s Dance Dialogue series returns with artists Caroline Bowditch and Dan Daw exploring Crip World Making—an approach to creating work that imagines and builds worlds that disabled people can inhabit fully, freely, and unapologetically.

Together, Caroline and Dan will discuss how they cultivate inclusive, accessible environments for both their creative teams and audiences, and how care and empathy shape their artistic practice.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Caroline Bowditch
After 16 years living and working in the UK, Caroline Bowditch returned to Australia in July 2018 to take up the role as Chief Executive Officer at Arts Access Victoria.

Caroline is best known as a performer, maker, teacher, speaker and mosquito buzzing in the ears of the arts industry in the UK and further afield. She is a regular consultant on accessibility and inclusivity internationally.

Caroline’s strong advocacy has resulted in significant reform of funding programs for Deaf and Disabled artists.

Caroline has also led international residencies in Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, and is regularly invited to mentor local, national and international artists at all levels of their artistic development.

Dan Daw
Dan is an Australian Disabled performer and producer now based in the UK.

Dan began working as a performer with Restless Dance Theatre (AUS) in 2002, and since then has gone on to work with Australian Dance Theatre (AUS), Force Majeure (AUS), FRONTLINEdance (UK), Scottish Dance Theatre (UK), balletLORENT (UK), Candoco Dance Company (UK), Skånes Dansteater (SWE) and National Theatre Scotland (UK).

Dan is an Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells London and has worked as Internationale Tanzmesse NRW Associate Curator (2021 – 2024), Associate Artistic Director of Candoco Dance Company (2021), Sadler’s Wells Summer University Artist (2015 – 2018) and Associate Director of Murmuration (2015 – 2022), Dan continues to work at the forefront of disability-led performance making and international performance programming.
