Event description

Join us when the veil is thin at the gorgeous Montague Retreat Center.

On this night we will be offering a delicious meal of locally sourced delights, presented by Caelum Massicotte & Andi Blinn, under the heated circus tent on the Goshen stone patio.

You can expect paired wine tastings during the meal. With table Designs by the gifted Botanicoco.

We invite you to bring a photo or an object (not required) of an ancestor that you would like to honor and dine with on this night of magic. Once we call in our ancestors, we will dine in relative silence, listening. Once we the meal is finished, we will have time to share about our experiences with those we are sharing a table with.

After Dinner we will head into the Great Hall and welcome the larger community who did not attend the dinner. Inside we will receive an offering by Kaitlyn Cronin, called Death and Chocolate. She will guide us on an honoring of those we have welcomed, and will share her homemade ceremonial grade cacao truffles.

Afterwards we will embark on a stunning interactive performance by the group Incus, who will be presenting a special set of songs attuned to the moment. Ancestor songs, ghost songs and songs of healing and honoring our bloodlines.

This will include the group's first performance of "All Hallow's Eve" in over a decade. This stunning theatrical piece, a story of a couple, the widower and the ghost of his wife, sensing one another while the veil is thin, desperately calling for a sign, so they may stay true to their eternal vows. The part of the widower will be danced by Moti Zemmelman and the part of the ghost will be danced by Taina Lyons.

Incus is lead by the director of the MRC, Jason Cohen, and is currently comprised of 8 wonderful musicians from the Valley and Boston.

Incus: Jason Cohen-songwriter, keys, vocals and percussion, Charlotte Malin-Collins-violin, viola, vocals, Tobey Sol LaRoche-percussion vocals, Bri Barry-vocals, Glenn Smith-vocals, percussion, Nico D'Amico-bass, Nick Mikita-vocals, & Sarah Huber, vocals & percussion.

Afterwards we will be taken on a musical journey by Father Otter, offering an ecstatic dance set for all of the spirits from all over the world that choose to be with us.

Lyrics:

The widower:
It's all hallow's eve again
Now is when the veil is thin
I can sense you everywhere
I have missed you much my dear
I have gone on living and waiting
Then out of the corner of my eye
I thought I saw you dancing
Please wont you send me a sign.

The ghost:
I'm here, my dear, between the worlds
Alone, outside I don't know where I am
I've been flowing like water
My focus has been so unclear
When are you coming to join me
Please wont you send me a sign

Both:
We vowed that we would wait

The widower:
If death should come and separate
All my friends think I'm insane
As my vices wax and wane

I stand before you mirror
With the brush that still holds your hair
The candles are lit, let this be it
Please won't you send me a sign

The ghost:
I can, feel you, right here next to me
So close, so close please breath me in

I feel like the veil is shifting
Again we will run out of time
A whole 'nother year of drifting
Please won't you send me a sign

The widower:

Please won't you send me a sign,

The ghost:

Please won't you send me a sign

Both:
Please won't you send me a, Please won't you send me a, Please won't you send me a sign!
