Dance Workshop: Improvisation & Creative Movement by Anniela Huidobro Castro

Join us at the Mexican Cultural Institute for a two-hour dance workshop exploring improvisation, creative movement, and the development of your own unique movement language.

Led by Anniela Huidobro Castro, this workshop invites participants to explore movement in an open, playful, and expressive environment. Through improvisation techniques and creative prompts, participants will be encouraged to connect their bodies with their imagination, personal experiences, and individual ways of moving.

What to Expect

The session will begin with a physical warm-up incorporating floor work and contemporary dance techniques, preparing the body for the improvisational practice.

Participants will then explore different improvisation exercises, both individually and in duets, using a variety of creative stimuli, including:

• 🖼️ Images

• 📖 Narratives and personal experiences

These elements will serve as starting points for discovering new movement possibilities, developing imagination, and encouraging spontaneous physical expression.

Rather than focusing on learning a specific choreography, the workshop is designed as a space for exploration, play, freedom, and self-expression. Participants will have the opportunity to discover movement that feels organic and personal, connecting the body with their own stories, experiences, and creative worlds.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is open to dancers of all levels and body types. No previous experience in improvisation is required.

Whether you are an experienced dancer, a performer interested in expanding your creative practice, or simply curious about exploring movement in a new way, you are welcome to participate.

The workshop will be conducted in Spanglish, creating an inclusive and dynamic environment for participants.
