Dance Workshop with Jo Lloyd and Golden Thursdays

The day begins with a Britney-dance-party-work-out-flow led by Golden Thursdays' artist Max McAuley in collaboration with Jo Lloyd

To follow, Jo Lloyd's workshop will be an opportunity to work with her distinct choreographic methodologies, connecting the imagination with the physical - the real and the imagined. The workshop will involve her progressive warm-up, in which detailed verbal propositions initiate improvised explorations to prepare the body. Following this, Jo will share her choreographic methods to generate and collect movement, working with spontaneity, as well as teaching choreography from her current work. The workshop will enable participants to access varied movement states, individual patterns, negotiations and tendencies, and gain information from perceiving one another. What do we need to know in order to do / perform the dance? How do you form the unresolved dance? This workshop is suited to dancers with some training/ experience—including recent graduates, current students and trained dancers. Join Golden Thursdays

This workshop offering comes at the culmination of a week of Creative Development between Jo Lloyd and Golden Thursdays on their first major work - 'Scenes from a Swan Lake'. Following the workshop, Golden Thursdays will share some work-in-progress scenes. Workshop participants are welcome to join us for the sharing and participate in a brief post-showing discussion about our work.
