Dancing Freedom Brisbane: Between Earth and Sky
Event description
Dancing Freedom is a somatic elemental dance practice and a movement
meditation where we use movement as medicine. It also embraces ritual
and
ceremony to connect with self, others and community. Through the
inward journey of Dancing Freedom, we make our way through the darkness
and carve a new pathway for our selves, our community and the world.
Indigenous cultures have long recognised that the elements that are
outside of us are also within us and believed that connecting with their
energies helps create a more balanced life, living in greater harmony
with nature.
And the dance is great fun!
You will be guided through a 90 minute elemental movement wave based on
the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. I provide a safe
and dynamic space to explore your own body sensations and emotions,
while connecting with the group energy. We always begin with a
powerful theme, and end with a circle where everyone is welcome to share any insights/wisdom received in the dance.
The theme for this dance is 'Between Earth and Sky'.
We humans are placed between the earth and sky living our day to day life.
According to ancient Chinese cosmology everything in the Universe is an expression of Qi, vibrating at different frequencies, and humans have a mutual relationship with their environment - so our actions, thoughts and emotions affect everything within us and outside of us.
The invitation is to drop into our body and become present to the moment as you feel into the inter-connectivity of all things within and outwards. Let your feet move across the ground and your spirit call you home as the Earth and Sky resonate with your shapes, thoughts and emotions as you dance the elemental wave.
